Clients Creating Change: Stuart House, Cheryl Saban

Michelle Oliver appreciates the hard work that Cheryl Saban does to support Stuart House.

Michelle Olivers client creating change, Cheryl Saban is working to expand Stuart House by raising money to build a larger Santa Monica facility. Stuart House is nationally recognized as an extraordinary program of the Los Angeles Rape Treatment Center at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center.  Stuart House provides a safe place where sexually abused children and their families are given access to every professional and medical need necessary to begin the healing process. When asked about her interest and devotion to the cause, Cheryl said, “I was raped when I was 18. And back in the day, that was in 1969, there weren’t these kinds of services. I had to deal with that trauma alone." Cheryl Saban and Viola Davis are co-chairing The Rape Foundation Capital Campaign to expand Stuart House. The expansion will double the number of children the program can benefit. Cheryl and Viola attended the groundbreaking ceremony  for the extensive Stuart House expansion in Santa Monica shown below.

In addition to her work with The Rape Foundation, Dr. Saban has channeled her strength into various fields where she can serve others. She is a writer, social activist, psychologist, and philanthropist. She has published over a dozen books including, What Is Your Self Worth? A Woman’s Guide to Validation, and most recently, Soul Sisters, The Special Relationship of Girlfriends. No matter the outlet, she uses her voice to advocate women and children in her books, on Twitter, and as a regular blogger for HuffingtonPost.com and Intent.com.

Cheryl is a Presidential appointee as Special Public Delegate to the United Nations for the 67th General Assembly, and she still manages to be at the center of her family in California as a wife, mother, and grandmother. The Saban Family Foundation, established in 1999, is committed to supporting the healthy development of children and families in the United States, and to identify and address unmet societal needs in Israel.

Thank you for your profound dedication, Cheryl! You inspire us every day
